How do you store your Planes
Is there a right way to store planes. Is hanging them ok and if so how do you hang them. Is it ok to store them in the cold like an unheated pole barn. Can you lay a 72in wing flat on a shelf or should it be left on the plane. Could I put it on pegs on the wall. How do you store your planes. Thanks I have learned a lot in this form.Yes I'm a newbe.

I prefer screwing wood blocks to the wall, use wood dowels covered in pipe insulation.
Hang by tail or halnding gear.
Hang by tail it is best to plug fuel tank (I use small 1/8" tube from vent to fill line) otherwise they may drip.
Hang by gear puts nose up, but spacing of dowls becomes an issue.
Attached is picts, what a mess in my shop.
I would redo the wing rack with 5 dowls instead of 3.
Not shown, GP Christen Eagle on other wall, Giant stinger hung in unheated garage, more wings lying around.

At Home Depot you can go the the shelving section and get the adjustable shelving units.
I got the 48" wall mounted standards, with the 16" brackets. I covered the brackets with pipe insulation. With this configuration I can hang 3 complete planes, in addition to two boxes on the higest level. The whole thing probably cost about 20-25 bucks! I also put peg board behind the planes so I can hang building type items that I don't use very often. Hope this helps!

I have a rack similar to Scott’s wing rack but it goes from floor to ceiling. However I use 1/2” electrical conduit wrapped with pipe insulation where he uses dowel as brackets. I’ve drilled plenty of ½” holes in the 2x2 to accommodate different configurations and store wings in the top section and lay fuses along the pipes in the lower two thirds. I’ve found this way to be much more space conservative than hanging them from the tail as I did for many years.
Don’t worry about the cold, my birds stay in an unheated garage all year and I’m in MI too.

How ever you decide try and keep your nose pointing up. This way the corrosive byproduct of the fuel doesn't sit on your bearings. Instead it sits on your back plate.

RE: How do you store your Planes
There is someone with a signature something like this one: If we didn't crash em, where'd we store em?.....................................I hope that answers your question.........
I store mine just in the garage.....Well, I only have two (Superstar and Somethin' Extra) so it isn't that hard to store two.......
