Default Irvine 53 and muffler questions

I just bought an irvine 53 and need to get a pitts muffler to fit in the cowl. I have heard thinks of mufflers with too small volume can over heat an engine. There are two types of pitts mufflers, one that is cylindrical shaped, and a bisson pitts that is oval shaped. The oval shaped one apears to have more volume. Has anyone fit either of these mufflers with this engine, and what were your results.

Default RE: Irvine 53 and muffler questions

I'm using the Bisson in my WM Rambler 45 w/ the Irvine .53 mounted @ 90 degrees. Twentyfive (+ or -) flights to date and no problems.

And I fly in the desert, so if were going to overheat I'd have seen it.[X(]
