Default RE: Will it fly?

Does it have an airfoil? Then of course it will fly. The question is, will it fly well? -Andrew

Default RE: Will it fly?

Whats it WEIGH? ( does it fly at 5 mph or does it require mach 6?)

Sure it will fly if the angle between the main wing and the stabilizer is right (even with a flat plate airfoil) If its light it might even fly WELL. if its HEAVY it will fly like a brick. (just as far as you can throw it.)

Looks like a nice design to me. Just use conventional building techniques and it will not be overweight. The wing is high aspect ratio, so you should use shear webs to stiffen and strengthen it. If you build it right, I would say you're looking at 18-24 ounces ready to fly.

Default RE: Will it fly?

I would think so. It looks a lot like what I am (should be) build right now.

Mine has a wingspan of 74 inches.
An airfoil is the shape the ribs of the wing have. Mine looks this.

If you want to know more about airfoils, there are a few great sites thich talk about it. If you want to draw one by hand, check out [link=http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/concepts/plot_an_airfoil/index.htm]Airfield Models[/link]. If you want to see a huge list of airfoils and a detailed explination of how they work, check out [link=http://www.aae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads/coord_database.html] UIUC Airfoil Coordinates Database - Version 2.0[/link]. If you're just getting into design, don't let the huge list desuade you. Tell us a little more about what sort of flying you plan on doing and what sort of flying conditions you will be flying in. We can make a few suggestions.
