Default Complicated covering job.

Maybe I'm being too patriotic, but I've decided to cover the wing of my Slowpoke 40 with an American Flag design. I've never seen so many stripes and curvy lines! Anyway, I made a pattern on paper and cut out all of the pieces to make some templates. I'm looking for some easily removable adhesive that will allow me to temporarily attach my paper patterns to the Mono-coat while I cut out the actual covering parts. Has anyone tried an adhesive that is easy to remove and won't damage the surface of the covering? A giant Post-It-Note would be great! Is there a better way?

Also, does anyone have any great tips for piecing a flag together for a plane? I'm planning on using Mono-coat 'Trim Solvent' to make the skin before attaching it to the wing.

Should I lap the seams between the colored strips from front to back - or should I place the red strips on top because the white would be see-through. The latter would make alternating seams - half facing forward and half facing backward.

Thanks for your help!

I like to draw everything backwards on the the back side of the covering on the BACKING itself....otherwise, you can use scotch tape, just clean up the adhesive afterwards

Check out this thread by Termagator in Tips and Techniques. He has a great step by step method.

If you use Ultracote, it already has a paper backing (But Trim Solvent won't work on it) I would just cover the plane with white, then poke holes in the white where the red (or Blue) will go.

I drew my design on the covering with my daughters washable markers. works great!

My plane is pictured in the previous post from termigator.

Why not paint it? Would probably be easier and would look better. Plus you can do nicer shading if you have an airbrush instead of monotone.
