Default Slimline Excel fueler

I heard that Slimline was having trouble with the Excel fueler's O rings when it first came out. I really like the look of the fueler and was wondering if anyone has heard if they have this issue ironed out?

It's ironed out, but I'll go back to fuel dots next time. They're a pain to get out, you have to use their fueling probe, and if you mount the fueler below the top of the tank, fuel will run out when disconnecting the fueler probe - can't pinch the line like on a fuel dot.

I'll have to try one. I have been using the Sullivan fueler a couple of years but lately I have been having problems with them. I'll talk to Slimline at Toledo and try one on my Skybolt.

I tried one last year and the design had some issues. The nipples are way too big for medium fuel tubing and the barbs are razor sharp. As a result, the tubing gets cut once it's pushed over the barb. I spent a good hour with a nail file getting the edge off the barbs. Maybe that problem is corrected now, I'm not sure.

I agree with you, gilcon , and fuel dots are a heck of a lot cheaper too.

Here's a version of fuel dots:

There's a bunch out there, but all are similar. You would usually use a fuel dot with a 3-line tank system to prevent carb flooding. Gas and pumped engines can get by with a 2-line system, but you may get an air bubble in the line after filling.

All my planes use a 2 line system and they are all glow, the Sullivan fuelers on the planes have been OK up till now. The last couple have cracked.

Now i see.
Richard L can i have the part # for the ones you are using ?
I am now using the Dubro Quick fill fueling valve but i don't really like it.
I guess i'll need a new fuel probe too. What kind of probe are you guys using with dots ?
Finally, what is the difference between fuel dots and Fuel line plugs (Dub617) ?
Is that the same ?

Thx

You can get those Miracle Fuelers from here: [link]http://www.qualityrcproducts.com/prod_miraclefueler.html[/link]

You won't need a fuel probe because they are just fuel line plugs, similar to the Dubro fuel line plugs.

I have a question. I'm using fuel dots with my UCD, Saito 100, and Cline regulator. But I was wondering. If I wasn't using the regulator what would keep the fuel from flooding the carb at the "T" connection? I would think that when the fuel got to the "T" half of it would go to the tank and the other half would head toward the carb?

You're right. You either need a 3-line setup (separate fill/empty line) or pinch the carb side of the line so it doesn't flood.
