How often does your spouse/significant other come to the field?
When at the field this weekend I noticed an increased number of wives coming out to watch/support their husbands. While I realize many women resent their husbands spending on this hobby, some are lucky enough to enjoy the hobby without constant nagging from their spouse. So, how often does your spouse/sig. other come to the flying field?

My second wife was informed before we got married that I wasn't going to give up the hobby. She is supportive as long as the bills are paid and I stay awway from the bars.

My GF worries about my spending - I do spend alot on the hobby... But she doesn't interevene.. merelt "suggests" i save a bit more. As far as the field, she hasn't been yet, but it's part my fault... She is willing to come down and even try flying - she says it sounds relaxing - as compared to my racing the cars. So when I get my hangar in order this season i'll take her over and let her putz around the sky. who knows, maybe she'll want one of her own!

My wife come sout 85% of the time. It is mandatory for all maiden flights for her to be there. The one time she didn't make it, it was a bad day for the plane.

My Wife can't stand the hobby to be honest! And the very first time she decided to come and watch I put my Sig somethin extra in dirt! So she won't be back!

My wife comes everytime. She makes lunch and serves as my main stooge. She's learning to fly this year--doing very well--and is very excited about it. She buys me planes and engines and encourages my daughters (six of them) to do the same. She comes to the workshop when I need a third hand or a cold one to drink.

My (soon to be) wife supports me 100%
She will come to the feild if I ask her, but I also realize that If I ask her, and she comes, then I must oblige her when she asks for a favor.
She says she will 'give it a whirl', and it'll probably be this season, as we finally have a trainer avaliable!
She also pops by with her niece and nephew. Kids love planes, especially on warm sunny days with no wind.. (read: the kiddies get to launch my / their rockets!!)

I got this all wrong I thought the reason we did this "was to give them that special time alone to do what ever it is they do" when were flying.-Mike

RE: How often does your spouse/significant other come to the field?
Last season my wife came once. I had left all my airplanes and equipment outside the cellerway entrance. Seems I had gotten distracted by putting out the garbage and forgot to load my equipment from the lawn into my car. When by mid-morning I had not returned to get them she loaded them into her car and brought them to the field. Meanwhile I had decided to not go home and get them but to just sit with the guys and shoot the bull.
She appeared with the planes and equipment and the guys have not let me forget it to this day. They love it. They figure I was being checked up on. Had I not been there. . .

My wife (of fifty years) was out in 1983 and again in 1985. But I don't go to her quilting club meetings, and she doesn't care to sunburn her tonsils at our flying field! Works for us! She did learn to fly U/Control back in the fifties though, to humor me!

I wish she would come with me everytime I go to the field. There's no one I rather be with.

My wife saw me fly once. I was flying across the street from where we were staying. I spend all I want she NEVER comments on the cost. Will not come to the field to watch me fly though. Not interested.

My wife supports my spending and the only time she comes to the field is to take me to lunch or dinner.
I usually leave my plane right there.

My wife and daughter fly as well so we're more often than not at the field together, though I still get time with just me there too

I'm afraid to take my wife to the field, one of those rotten dogs I fly with would probably tell her how much I have invested in my fleet. LOL She has her hobby and I have mine but an occasional appearance is nice.

my GF loves coming with me, she try's as hard as she can to make it to every place i fly, once in awhile i will let her fly a old trainer i have as a beater, LOL, but she knows enough to not even ask to fly one of my scale planes, LOL, lets just say that shes lucky the plane i let her fly is a "beater plane", i think im going on 29 repairs to it from her crashing, but its fun watching her get all involved in it, and she really is getting better at it, but she sure as hell wont be flying one of my good planes anytime soon, LOL

My wife is a member of the club, and is building her own plane(s). She even has volunteered to build mine!

Hmm I have a beautifull girlfriend and I got back into the hobby about a month after we met... I think she is going to leave me soon... I'm sure going to miss her... haha She thinks I like my planes more than her... It isn't true it is just an addictive hobby... She likes to come to the field but even when I am home I am still flying in my head...

My wife use to come to the field all the time, but only comes a few times per year now. She found it pretty boring after a while. Our field has no shade, so it gets hot in mid summer, and no "Port-a-Johns". We can walk to the bushes, but it's not all that pleasant for her. []
She's very supportive of the hobby though, and has always been understanding of the time I spend on it.

RE: How often does your spouse/significant other come to the field?
It saddens me, because I can't even get my wife into our full size plane, let alone an interest in R/C. Now on the other hand, she's got it good, because to show support I'll go into every scrapbooking or craft store there is and really listen to her. I can rattle off the name of a dozen companies and products related to scrapbooking, but she can't tell me which aircraft is which (Cessna from Corsair).
What's even more difficult is that I have more women, through social circles, interested in having me take them flying or with R/C, than my wife. Naw, I'm not bitter . . .
