RE: Magnets in R/C aircraft?
The glider guys use magnets to close spoilers. I am not aware of any particular problem that magnets will cause as long as they are not too close to the Rx. I suppose it is possible they might have some affect on the signal and, thus the antenna should be avoided as well.
I think the biggest problem is tha the magnets might not hold the hatch on at speed. In my opinon, there are many better ways to hold the hatch down.

Magnets will hold hatches very well if you use "rare earth" magnets and put them in correctly. It's a common practice on lots of large scale aircraft. Especially large warbirds.

As TLH101 says, they work great and have absolutely no effect on the radio. Rare earth magnets much smaller than a dime will hold a hatch on so tight you have to use a screwdriver to pry them off. Use them on many of my big (1/4 scale ) planes and on small gliders to hold the hatch on.

Yep, I use them all the time to hold hatches and hinged canopys on. Just be sure to use rare earth magnets. They hold incredibly tight and I have never had one let loose in flight.
