paint....compatibility?
I'd like to add some paint over Coverite iron-on fabric and then spray it with clear sealer. Is there really an issue with what types of paint are compatible on Coverite? What about trim paint on already spray painted Coverite (using 21st Century paint?) What is a good cheap option to brush on?
Thanks a lot!

RE: paint....compatibility?
As long as you are going to clear coat it, use latex. It will adhere to just about anything that is clean.
A couple of words of advice with latex:
1. Mix about 1 - 1 1/2 capfuls of Flotrol per quart of paint. It retards the drying somewhat, but gives the paint more time to "level out" so brush marks and uneven spots disappear.
2. Use plain water and a TINY drop of liquid soap to thin the paint. You will see articles mentioning the use of windshield washer anti freeze - DON'T DO IT!!! IT WILL TINT THE PAINT.
3. Latex needs at least 5 days (preferably longer) to "cure" before clear coating. You can clear coat right away, but the paint will take forever (if ever) to completely dry.
4. I have found MinWax PolyCrylic (water base) excellent for a clear coat. I use 10% nitro and have had no problems at all.
5. Use the 3M brand of BLUE masking tape. Look on the side of the wrapper. It will give an adhesion rating. I have had my best luck (not pulling paint) with a "2 dot" rating. The 2 dot DOES NOT have a textured appearance - it looks like a paper and will say "60 Day Release". The other stuff says "14 Day Release".
Hope this helps.
