Fuel shelf life
I have Sig 10% fuel I bought in the summer of 2002 and am getting back into flying and was wondering if anyone can tell me if this fuel is still good to use two years later. Also what is some of your opinions of this fuel? Thanks for your replies in advance.

RE: Fuel shelf life
I was able to use a Sig 25% fuel after a year or two of storage. It was stored in my closet with its original plastic bottle, though it had changed its color to a little orangeish. Ran fine.

Got ya all beat. I had a jug of Byron 10% that was 20 years old. Engine fired up on third try. Ran just fine at high throttle but idle was a little iffy. LHS said to just blend in some new stuff to get the nitro back up and that worked out just fine. I now have 6L's of about 9% nitro and I fly it all the time. Kept in dark cool garage though.

I had nearly a full gallon of Morgan Fuel 15% that sat in my "hangar" (spare bedroom) for about 8 months still hooked up to the hand crank pump. Almost finished it off now in a OS 40LA. No probs.

RE: Fuel shelf life
BTW, SIG is one of the most honest fuel sellers. Some of the mixers add oil and nitro by weight, not volumn. So if they say 18% oil, it's really more like 15 or 16% by volumn and risky to use. SIG 20% oil fuel is really 20% oil. I have settled on SIG and rarely use anything else.
