RE: CA hinges installed too tight
If they are CA hinges it's easy; cut through them with a hobby knife, bevel the leading edge of the hinged surface and install new ones.

When you install the new CA hinges, put them in a different location than the old hinges (the CA can not penetrate the wood in the old location) and bend the flight surface BEFORE and WHILE putting the CA on. If you have not beveled the leading edge of the flight surface, do that also.

Hi!
Just take a X-acto knife and cut them off!
You can replace them with new hinges in the exact same location by placing a diamond cutting wheel in a Dremel and cut the old hinges out...the slot will be thin enough for new Ca- hinges....done it many times myself!

It's really not advisable to put them in the same locations. Either move them to another location, or drill holes and use hinge points.
To answer your question, they really can't be "Loosened up"
It sounds like you made the classic mistake of trying to keep the gap to a minimum while installing them.
Having little or no gap is not nearly as important as having room for the hinges to flex.
