Does anybody know if you can take a crystal from a Hitec Rx and put it in a Futaba Rx. It is the same pin size and spacing.
Has anyone successfully done this?

I have done it but it was with a supreme and R127

Yep, you can do that. Just don't put a dual conversion xtal into a single conversion or vice versa.

I put the Hitec crystal in the Futaba Rx and it seems to work just fine.

It will fit and probably work, but Hitec and I suspect Futaba dont recomend it. Probably a marketing thing though.

SO long as both are dual conversion, the crystal frequency should be the same.

Over here in Sweden the Futaba distributer says this isn't going to work. It gives less range!

Unfortunately, the Futaba dealer in Sweden is telling fibs. He is trying to sell more xtals &/or radios. They are interchangeable without loss of performance (as long as you have the correct high/low band).

I don't know what the difference is but it is my understaning that hitec uses a special crystal for their receivers. I do not think it will work in a futaba...they use a hi and lo receiver structure, think channel 35 is the change point. don't think I would risk it.

I have used GWS crystals interchangeably in both Hitec 555, Hitec Supreme and Futaba 127 receivers with out any problems. These receivers are of the dual conversion type and the crystals are for dual conversion receivers.
