Default Servo flutter/hesitation what now?

When I turn my plane and radio on my elevator will flutter as I cycle my elevator up. This only happens when I cycle my elevator UP but NOT down. I cycle the elevator for about half a minute or so and then I get no more hesitation!! ITS FINE! Do I need a new reciever?

I have seen this happen on friends planes at different times .. for different reasons. I have also heard that if you are using one particular JR digital servo ... they will jitter/stutter/etc if they are run on a 6 volt system but not on 4.8v. If your problem only occurs right after you charge your system, I would say your system is peaking the battery and you servo doesn't like that peak voltage. After you drain the system a tad, the servo is then happy. You might check with you radio manufacturer to verify. If you are using any servo extensions I would check those connections also. I've seen flakey stuff from a servo lead that was plugged in but not seated all the way.

Good advice. I was guessing that it was happening with a freshly charged pack. If that's the case, it's not all that unusual.

I would double check to be sure there is no binding in the elevator or linkage. It seems odd that a little excess voltage would cause any flutter or hesitation in one direction but not the other.

Because this is happening in only one direction, it sounds more likely that the servo pot. needs to be cleaned. After moving the servo a few times the problem dissapears, tells me that the pot. is self-cleaning by the wiping action. This is not uncommon.

Hi!
Its not too high battery voltage! It's your potentiometer going bad!
It's simple to change ! Or just send the servo in for service. Do not use it on vital surfaces like aileron or elevator!

I could simply buy a new servo, it only costs about 10 bucks.
