Default spinner instead of prop nut for performance

i have a Saito .82 on a UCD .46 and i was told that if a spinner is used instead of a prop nut or nut with a backup nut that you will get more rpm's using the spinner...does anyone know if this is true?

Well maybe it might be true because of weight reasons. but really it won't make like a 1,000 rpm increase

Maybe, but if you use a spinner and only one nut you need to make sure the nut is really tight. I've had them come loose several times. I use a spinner on my Saito 45 and include tightening the prop nut on my list of things to do before every flying session. I wish the shaft had room for the spinner backplate, washer, and two nuts. I did just come across a product that was called a washer nut. Seems it works as the prop washer and a nut. Would let me have a lock nut. Need to look into it more.

well a spinner is supposedly better because the way the props are not really aerodynamic in the center near the hub. if you have a spinner, the prop sticking out of the spinner is more aerodynamic and not causing as much drag. so maybe you might be able to pick up a few rpm

From what I've heard you may pick up 300 or so rpm due to the reduced drag of the prop hub, but rhar's nor enough to worry about unless you're into pylon racing or something.

In the air, Maybe. ON the ground, I don't think so!
