Lustrekote compatibility
I am about to paint the cowl and pants for my new Pepsi Chipmunk and have bought Lustrekote with the three colours I'm using.
I cannot get hold of Lustrekote primer and was wondering what kind of primer is compatible with Lustrekote.
Any advice would be appreciated
Ari

RE: Lustrekote compatibility
Any of the sandable light gray auto primer.
I haven't had that much luck with lustrecote matching the film color or giving a smooth high gloss finish without flashing.
It's best to spray in a cool low humidity area.

RE: Lustrekote compatibility
Thanks for the tips.
On a different note, can I spray acrylic automotive lacquers over lustrekote?
Would that be compatible?

RE: Lustrekote compatibility
I guess I was trying to find out if I could spray acrylic laquers over lustrekote, not the other way around.
Reason is that I am painting some wheel pants that are 3 colour and I have two in lustrekote and have a can of the third one, but in acrylic laquer

[8D]I painted the ABS cowling, wheel pants, etc. for my Sig Spacewalker II with Ultrakote
two weeks ago. It does not appear to have set up well. It still has a tack when these ABS
parts are touched. I have never had a problem with Ultrakote spray paint before, nor with any
other spray paint. There was humidity when I sprayed the paint.
Any comments regarding the tack condition after two weeks and what I can possibly do to get
this paint to cure completely??
Thanks.

Try putting the parts in a warm, DRY environment for a few days. If that doesn't work, then you probably got some bad paint.
If the paint is bad, I WOULD NOT put a clear coat over it. It MAY seal it, but then again the underlying paint may mess up the clear coat.
If the paint is bad, then strip it off and redo it. I normally use a light grey (or white if you can find some ) SANDABLE, HIGH BUILD automotive type primer. I have had excellent results with this type of primer any weight gain on these parts would be neglidgeable.
