Default CONVERTING ELEC. TO GLOW

Ok I have the Hobbico Superstar EP and am converting it to glow power
So I have a few questions-
What size engine for a 3.5lb. plane
What size servo for engine throttle
What size fuel tank
What to do to strengthen the gear
How to add a tail wheel on this plane
Also how many rolls of covering for wing- 49" long + 7-8" chord?
I have already added ailerons with flaps on the plane so I only need the above info- also some digrams would be greatly appreciated.

Your main problem will be to make sure the airframe is strong enough. You can use any size servo for the throttle, I would guess a good 15 to 20 size engine would fly it fine. You can use heavier wire for the gear, or get a small halco gear or make glass gear. As for tailwheels, you can use a skid, put on a klett tailwheel assy or dubro tw assy, or just bend a wire into one. There are many ways to go. Fuel, probably a 4 or 6 oz tank, whichever fits. You can pretty much count on 2 rolls of covering, you will have some left. Best to use 2 colors.

What FlyBoy said. Engines have a lot more vibration than electrics and need more beef in key areas even if the electric motor and the glow engine have roughly the same power. A lighter airframe will hold up to the electric but may start coming apart with glow.

I'm not familiar with the plane you're talking about, so I can't recommend anything.

Why not just sell the electric & buy a glo Superstar? Much less trouble, & no chance that it will come apart in flight because it was underbuilt.

I dont know the size difference (if there is one) between the EP and glow, but the glow comes with a .40 size engine

The EP is much smaller & lighter (span 49" vs 60", & 2.7 lb vs 5.7 lb). Not a good candidate for conversion -- I doubt if the firewall would handle the load, let alone the wings handle the speed.

I have decided to not do this anymore and instead get a new electric plane to fly in my yard.
