How to flat thin balsa?

Default How to flat thin balsa?

I wonder if there are some tips for straighten or flatten balsa other than putting heavy books above it

Try soaking the balsa in hot water for an hour and then flatten with weights and let dry.

Spray with windex and put between paper towels and weight down and let dry.

As above, dampen the wood first (a little water works fine), but you might also want to try to bend it slightly in the opposite direction when weighting it down. That will do a better job of taking out warps or twists.

Pf course, if not done propoerly, the piece could look like wet spaghetti when it's dry. [:@]
