Global / HobbyPeople import them under the name "Magnum".

As I understand it.

I'm almost sure they are still made....the question is who's importing them??

N70R, I beg to differ though, I don't think the Magnum is the same engine.

Anyone with info though, I as well would apprecitate it. I own 2 ASP's, a .61, and the powerful .91. Both 2 strokes. I would like an outlet for parts, as the parts are hard to come by as well. Not that I need any right now, but my engines are several years old. They still run as good as new though, a bit of TLC did them well.

Default ASP engines/parts

Check out Great lakes Hobbies (greatlakeshobbies.com). They have pages of ASP parts as well as great prices on the parts and engines (new ASP 75 was $99 last time I checked). Shipping is very reasonable, easy to deal with, hard to get on the phone though. I've ordered using their website and they respond with emails to verify order. I was happy.

Well, I have never owned an ASP. I know that there is some brand of engine that is sold in the UK and other places, that has a 3 initial name, and that they build the magnums for Global. XYZ or something. Thought it was ASP. Whatever.

Magnum and ASP are built in the same factory by SY machinery (Sang Ye). Apparently they also make a few other well known brands such as... GMS and Super tiger. Now i'm not saying SY own these brands, they just make 'em.

ASP are in production. If you can't find parts in the USA, check out a few of the Aussie sites and take advantage of the low Aussie dollar.. And buy from us..

Apparently Indy/Horizon Hobby decided to stop selling ASP when or shortly after Hobby Shack started selling them as Magnum. It took a while for them to sell out of stock. When Hobby Shack started selling them the carbs were changed to look more like OS carbs (they recessed the idle screw and threw away the knob, darn it) and other changes were made. ASP engines sold in England and I think Canada were exactly like the Magnums because they were the later version. Now the series 3 ASP's are the same as the latest Magnums.

At least I think this is what happened.

They are still in business, their new series 3 engines are fantastic. Magnum and ASP are the same.

Well..my engines like I said are several yrs old...I'm thinking I've had them for at least 8 or 9 yrs. So...I do stand corrected, and thank you for the proper info, N70R, sounds like your right on.
