Safety fence
Our club is considering different ways of putting up a fence or barrier around the pilot blocks. We have 5 block on grass next to the paved runway which is about 30' from the blocks. I'm thinking about a way to make them removable when the grass needs cutting.

I don't know if i have a pic. We only use ours during event like fly-ins. We use orange plastic contruction fence. It is 4' tall and 50'long. It is basicly 2"plastic squares. We just weave re-bar through the sqares and drive the rebar in the ground. This stuff works well is cheap and is airplane friendly compared to chain link.

RE: Safety fence
Kirknik,
We use the contruction fence material as well but we use plastic pipe for the frame. The fenceing we use is not 4' high but only about 3'. It is easy to move around and has lasted us several years now. Ours is always in place and pilots must stand behind the barrier when flying. Below is a pic with the barriers in the background.

CoolPaul. That's cool, a tiger 60 coming in for a landing. I think those planes look so scale when they are approaching. I have one and it's currently my favorite plane in my hanger. But I just built a P51 60 size and have yet to madien it, so that may change

RE: Safety fence
I would recommend three short PVC "U" shaped pipes with fencing.
One in front of the pilot and one on both sides.
THe pipe goes into the ground about a foot and can be pulled up when the grass needs to be cut.
Ty-wrap the three sections together for added strength.

RE: Safety fence
At my club, we use two inch ABS pipe with plastic safety fence attached to it with cable ties.
In order to allow grass cutting we put 2 1/4" pieces of ABS (6" long) into the ground, the 2" frame of the fence just slides in and out of the subterrainian piece.
