Sealing Trim
When working with Monokote trim on Monokote, I've had fair luck using clear dope to seal the edges to prevent them from peeling up. I run a small amount of dope along the edges using a Q-tip, or very small brush. Does anyone know if clear, water-based poly would do the same?

RE: Sealing Trim
I've used polyurethane to seal trim and it works well for a while but seems to wear off after many cleanups. You need to renew it every once in a while in the heavily oiled areas.

RE: Sealing Trim
Minn,
Yeh I agree, but my real thin strips have a tendency to loosen at the ends. Just not enough area for the adhesive to hold. Guess I could tim with wider strips. []

RE: Sealing Trim
About a week ago I sealed the ends of several pieces of trim that was starting to come up with Testors cement for plastic models. I put a small amount of the cement on the underside of the trim, pushed it down with my finger wiping the excess off. Then the trim was held down with a finger for about 15 seconds. The model cement repair was simple, cheap, cannot be seen and seems to be holding well.

I use Lusterkote clear..(splatterkote), and spray a small amount into the cap center. I use a small, artist's brush and go over all edges, decals, and trim, before a drop of fuel gets near the plane. It seems to not turn yellow and works GREAT for years..... lownslo

RE: Sealing Trim
I have used that before. It is hard to explain.....but after a year or so it becomes "visable" to the extent of kind of looking "slightly dirty". I could be the brand I used, which was Hard as Nails, but that is when I switched to clear Lusterkote. Bottom line.... nail polish will work, but I feel not as well in the long run.....lownslo
