Default fuelproofing field box

I painted my field box with rustoleum enamel and then clear coated it with the gloss rustoleum enamel and glow fuel still smudges the paint. Is there another clearcoat that I can spray on the box to fuel proof it?

Most Rustoleum colors by themself should be fuel proof.

I know some of the metallics are not, and I have no idea about the gloss.

Also, it really takes a few days (to nearly a week) for Rustoleum to completely dry. Especially if you are in a humid area.

If all else fails, clear coat it with OIL BASE polyurethane. The oil base polyurethane is fuel proof. Give it a week to dry and you will be all set. You need to be aware that on light colors the oil base polyurethane will tend to yellow in about 6 - 7 months.

Try thinning some Epoxy and coating it. That's what we use for fuel proofing fire walls etc. ENJOY !!! RED

I've always had the opposite effect on the polyeurothanes. Oil will stay clear, while water-based will tend to yellow. That's just been my experience, not only with things like this, but also on things such as basketball floors and such...

The Rusto clear isn't fuel proof, as you discovered...If you want it really bulletproof it, paint it with epoxy paint. This stuff seems expensive, but it will only take a little bit of the paint and it will be thoroughly fuel proof.

You could give it a clear coat of polyester resin, worked on mine.

Cheers
