Futaba has a synth module. I'm curious as to why you would risk your plane and spectators lives by trying to save a few dollars in the most important link between ground and aircraft.

I am not trying to save a few dollars. I received the radio with a plane I just purchased off someone and want to keep using my 9C instead of the Hitec radio. I was just curious if the spectra could be used in the 9C. Obviously I would not risk doing so unless others have proven it works with no problems.

Cheers

I have read on RCU that sometimes it generates a lot of heat in the module, which is probably bad and possibly dangerous. I've also read that it runs the transmitter battery down really fast, again probably bad and possibly dangerous. I have no idea what the legalities are in Canada of using one mfr's RF parts in another mfr's radio.

So, even though it apparently "works" there are a lot of potential bad results.

While it appears to work in most cases, it is illeagle to do so in the USA as that combination has not been type accepted by the FCC. Doing so will void your AMA (and most probably any other) insurance coverage.
