Default 4 stroke fuel question

I have been up to now a two stroke only chap. I have recently aquired a OS 52 Surpass 4 stroke. Can I fly it with my 2 stroke fuel. 20% Klotz 5% nitro. Some guy told me I could but I just wanted to check with you first.

Yep, you should be good with that fuel. I would suggest changing to a new plug (OS "F" type) if that 52 Surpass is not new. If it is it will already have that plug in it.

I find that my OS 4 strokes love 10% nitro and 20% oil (mixture of 18% synthetic and 2% castor)

I also prefer to bump up the Nitro with a 4-stroke. I use 15%

as stated above 4 stroke fuel usually contains 15 % nitro and 18-20% oil.the extra nitro helps the idle without the idle bar pulg being used[cant use it in a four stroke].but the reverse is also tru you can run the 4 stroke fuel in your 2 stroke if you just want to buy one blend.

Per the OS-52 instructions, "a fuel containing 10% to 30% nitromethane is preferable. Lubricants may be either castor-oil or a suitable synthetic oil (or a blend of both) provided that they are always of top quality. For consistent performance and long engine life, it is essential to use fuel containing AT LEAST 18% lubricant by volume."

OS also recommends the "OS Type F" glowplug.

I have been using Mach-7, 15 percent, total synthetic for three years now in OS-120,YS-120,and Saito 180 with no problems. Even run a Fox Pro 8 plug in the OS 120, but YS plugs in the others. Like I said, works great.

yes you can all day long the only difference in the two fuels is (COLOR) dont let anyone tell you different. 2 stroke is 4 stroke and 4 stroke is 2 stroke. its been used for twenty years in both applications, regardless of what anyone says. i know this because morgan fuels has a manufacturing plant in alabama, and just so happens to be where my uncle albert works and is a production line supervisor.

I have had a Surpass 40 since 1990 or 1991. I use a OS F-type plug, and 10% nitro, 20% oil fuel. Runs absolutely great. I get a lot of comments on what a nice motor it is. Idles about 2500 or so.

You may have to clean the valves, and re-set them ever few seasons.

yes i can they only use the highest purity methanol without the risk of corrosion, they also use dedicated tank trucks to avoid the possibilties of contamination. they use nitro fuel from dow chemicals, they blend their own lubricants for specific temperatures. clean castor is degummed and fortified, its filtered which means its not chemically extracted with anti scuffing properties. anti foam agents that help break up surface vibration inherent in model engines. cp-07 is a friction modifier that reduces friction and attaches itself to a metal surface. morgan fuel also uses a multi viscosity technology combined with extreme pressure additives to reduce wear. when tested the friction modifier dramatically reduced wear by 85 percent, increased r.p.m. without the risk of overheating. all model fuel is made the same. the only difference is color and brand name.

When I bought a O.S. .26 Surpass, I used 10% ducted fan (23% oil) to break it in. It ran just fine on that stuff. So much for the "four strokes need low oil fuel" myth.

I just run regular 2-stroke fuel in my four strokes.

Very true statement indeed. I've found OS four strokes love a blend of oil versus straight one type or another. By that I mean castor/synthetic blend. Personally I use 10/20 Byrons in all of my OS engines, be them 2 or 4 stroke and they love it. I swithed once to the S&W brand and [:'(] My OS engines hated it.

Now my YS engines are a different story. The minimums are 20/20 fully synthetic. but they love 30/24 heli blends
