Default Question: Trimming plastic spinners

Can anyone suggest the best way to trim a plastic spinner to fit a prop? Thanks!

You can use a round file (good), a hobby knife (carefully), a dremel (great).

Using a Dremel do you take off material from all sides of the prop cut-out?

No matter what you use to do it, it's important to remove the same amount of material from both sides of the spinner.

And yes, remove equal amounts from both sides of the prop cutout, that way your prop stays centered in the spinner

I have found one should remove as much material from the "leading edge" of the spinner hole as possible before starting on the "trailing edge" side of the hole. It is a cut a little and measure how it fits against any back plate prop pegs or screw holes. And be sure to remove equal amounts from both sides. I use a Sharpie marker to set the limit of each cut.

I just remembered this article on how to cut spinners. It's for C/F and fiberglass but works well in this case.
