Default Monocote

I have used monocote for years and never a problem, til now that is. I bought a roll of white and a roll of red today to re cover a plane. The red worked fine. The white is reluctant to stick or shrink. I used a tack cloth before covering as I always have. I tried some on a piece of scrap wood thinking maybe there was some fuel in the old wood but it didn't make a difference. Is this just a bad roll or has something changed. I thought I read about a problem on another thread but can't find anything. Anyone?

Did you get it from your local hobby shop? It may be real old.

I doubt if "old" is the problem. I've used Monokote I've had for over 20 years and it still works fine.

Check your heat, maybe your trying too cold. If there is oil in the wood, use alcohol to get it clean first.

I have read a lot of stuff about white Monokote not working. Just use Ultracote or something else. Or use Coverite Balsarite to make it stick.

White Monokote, and all other colors of Monokate work just fine. Make sure you payed the power bill.

Thanks to all who replied. I really think that this was a bum roll. I pulled out some old pieces and used different rolls and had no problems. This roll not only didn't want to stick, but I needed to leave the heat gun on the same spot for 2-3 minutes (no Kidding) to get it to shrink. Normally it would have burned through after a few seconds. Like I said same plane, same equipment different / older roll of covering and no problem. I just thought I read a post about Top Flight changing formula or something.
