Default Heat gun life, how long, & which ones best

I have a Hanger 9 heat gun and it worked well for about 2 to 3 years. Now the elements barely glow on high. I build about 2 to 3 planes a year (always have something going, repair, building etc).

I did a search and noticed that some have had their heat gun for almost 10 years! WOW. I also saw people using Black & Decker, Mac Tools, and such.

I know it depends on usage and abuse, and I take ok to good care of mine.

So what is the best and how long should they last? Should I go to Home Depot and look or my LHS?

Thanks

Default RE: Heat gun life, how long, & which ones best

Hi Surf, I couldn't be happier with mine. I ended up with a Craftsman Industrial unit. I fully adjustable from 120-1050 degrees making it usefull for more than RC projects. Its also backed up with the Craftsman warrenty, has three speed settings, tempeture adjustment dial and has a flat area on the back so the unit can be set down for a hands free project.
Thats my two cents and I hope it helps you with your decision, Happy Holidays to you.
