.049 Cox engine RC build
Hello Sky Flying Lovers,
I am building a .049 size Cox engine pusher sail plane.
I intend to use the 7.6 grams S3108 Futaba micro servo using the 7 Ch R127DF receiver and the futaba nr4qb 4.8dc volts Nicad pack .
I would like to know if this set up will work to give a good short RC flight ?
Will the micro servos provide enough torque or will the 4.8 volt cell pack be good enough and work without causing damage to the microservos.
Thanks for all the help.
Stay tuned in for the flight report!!Cheers!!

servos torque depends on the size area and amount of deflection of the control surface.you did not specify what size the model is.all servos can run on 4.8 volts without damage some can also use 6 volts.you did not indicate what the mah rating of the pack is.i built a champion fokker eindecker with a cox dragonfly engibne, had throttle and muffler used 3 tower s-10 mini servos and 4 ch mini reciever.with williams bros wheels and a small 100 mah pack weight is 17 oz.flys about 5 minutes full throtle idle is about 4000 rpm but slow enough to landunder power

Ok Posted here is a picture of my incomplete Black widow Cox pusher sail plane or is it a glider. Its wing span is 4 feet with a wing chord of 6 inches. Its an all out Foamie.
The set up mentioned by me uses a standard normal reciver with a 600mAh 4.8 volts. I have not weighed the over all weight.
Else, I intend to use smaller Nimh 180mAh smaller than AAA cells, cut down on the weight ,But I am worried about the servo torque.I think the elevator area is about 20sq inches and the rudder is roughly around 10 Sq in
I have to yet add the micro servos!

I think this should give a rough idea of the size and area of the tail plane. I will try to keep the elevator and rudder deflections as little as possible.
