Default Gearbox Noise - is it normal?

Just finished my first Electric ARF and am using the Great planes 5:1 ratio gear box (non bearing) on a Graupner 7.2v 400 speed can. On powering up the engine hums at low stick input before spinning the shaft and then the gearbox gives out quite a bit of gear noise when running.

As this is my first electric im interested to know if this is the norm for plastic gearbox operation.

Cheers
Aaron

Some gearbox noise is normal. Question....did you lubricate the gears in the gearbox with lithium grease (white grease ) ? If you didn't, go back and do it. That will reduce the noise somewhat.
