Default old O.S max 50, why Wont it idle?

Hello, my buddy purchased this old O.S max 50 and we cleened it up and put it on the test stand to see how it ran. The thing just doesnt seem to idle. The engine has little compression and needs a heavy prop. I have adusted all the valves and nothing seem to work. I even have to start it on wide open. any sugestions?

Sounds like the engine is about worn out.

Low compression doesn't idle well.

Might be an air leak. In back cover, under carb, through front bearing?

Might try a idle bar plug?

Enjoy,

Jim

Have you considered a new ring? Perhaps that and an idle bar glow plug will help. Replace any gaskets and be sure the crankcase vent is open. Be sure all surfaces are leak proof. Check to see if the valves are seating and reseat if necessaary.

The OS MAX 50 is a 2 stroke engine with no valves and no crankcase vent?

Enjoy,

Jim
