Making Letters Templates with Windows XP?
I want to put some letters on my wing, and I was hoping to make paper templates and print them. Then I'll just tape the templates on my monkeykote and cut them out.
I'm using Windows XP Pro, so I have Wordpad and Paint programs. But, I can't get the font as big as I'd like. I wanted my letters to be about 5" tall, but the biggest thing I can get out of my 'puter is about 2".
Does anybody know a way to increase the font sizes to make letters this big?

Consider purchasing or finding one of the many free greeting card programs on the net. You need one that makes greeting cards and "banners." If you use one of those programs to make banners, you can make the letters as big as a piece of 8-1/2 X 11 inch piece of paper. In fact, I've made banners that required putting two or three 8-1/2 X 11 inch pieces of paper together to make the letter. I have used a couple of those programs, but Microsoft Greeting Card Workshop was my favorite.

I thought you can override the default sizes and just put in any size you want. I'm writing this on a Mac, but I'm sure I've done this with a Windows machine.

Microsoft Word to the rescue.
I downloaded a trial version of Office 2003 and used Word to make my numbers in font size 500. I've got letters about 8" tall now. All I gotta do is cut them out and then trace them on the monkeykote.[sm=thumbup.gif]

Also, almost any paint program will do fonts for you. Any size you want.
I've got PaintShopPro and it'll do a bunch of special stuff with lettering. Like arc it.... If you wanted your words in a arc, the characters might have to be "distorted" to look right on the arc and by doing the arcing in the paint program you get that work done for you.
BTW, I also use it to paint my model paintjobs into RealFlight G3.

It not very expensive to have a vinyl cutter do it. I got the N numbers for my 1/4 scale cub done for about 10 bucks. no worries about fuel proofing and no weird sheen from packing tape to seal the letters. though you can trace it onto monokote and use solvet to apply them.
