Default can you fiberglass foam???

Does anybody know if you can use fiberglass resin directly on foam? I would normally just try it and see what happens but I don't have any resin left. So before I go spend the money on a new bottle, I fiqured somebody here already knows the answer.

Thanks

Ryan

Polyester resin will attack and melt foam, epoxy will not.

Actually there is no such thing as epoxy fibreglass resin. There is epoxy or polyester resin and fibreglass cloth. The cloth is impregnated with resin. Epoxy resin is safe to use over foam.

You can perfectly apply EPOXI resin on foam... POLIESTER resin will cause serious damage to you foam core...

A nice product for glassing external surfaces is called "20 Min. Finish-Cure Epoxy". Mine has a stick-on label from the lhs. The distributor is Bob Smith Industries. Flows better that regular epoxy so the surface finish needs less sanding. Takes quite a long time to cure, though. I don't know where they get the 20 min. thing. I give it 24 hours.

I bought mine at the local hobby store.

Here's a link to an online supplier if you can wait for the delivery:
