EXPO ? What happened to it ?
Hi Guys What happened to the EXPO that was held in Iowa ? It was a great site, and a good time. Thanks for any info you might have. Dick

Byron Godberson, from Ida Grove, Ia. was the force behind the show when it was held in Ida Grove, and later when it was moved to the Ankeny location (just off Interstates 80 and 35.) After his passing, his Byron Originals was sold (see IronBayModelCompany.com) and the Expo was discontinued. The Expo grounds, near the Ankeny Airport, look all different now. The B25 wind indicator first had one prop freeze, then the pivot, and it has now been removed.
The Expo was a great show, I appreciated it while it lasted.

I attended one of the last shows held at Ida Grove. (1991) It was spectacular with the exception of the tragedy of the full size plane crash. I did not witness it as I had left the day before, but I had always wondered if that was one of the reasons the show had stopped. Now I know the truth. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info Dave. I have fond memories of the show and good people that put it on. Getting stuck in the mud on our 1st trip was not a highlight, after a severe thunderstorm. On our 2nd trip I was lucky enough to win a flight in a Pitts Special, what a rush!![sm=sunsmiley.gif] Thanks again Dave
