Default Help with drum/air wheel brakes.

Got a set of used drum type wheel brakes using 'O' rings-don't know what brand. The O rings were worn so that air pressure would not cause them to engage. The outer portion was worn more or less flat with the inner ring. I got some new rings and put on but now the wheels will barely turn. Apparently they need to be 'ground' down a bit - but how? Is this normal for this type of brake or do factory brakes have flattened outer rings? This my first set of this type, so no background with them. Any thoughts or comments?

Try an auto parts store. They should have a huge selection of O-Rings.

It sounds like BVM brakes. If so, they can supply the correct "O" ring.

Default Brakes

I didn't see anything on their website that looked the same but it's worth a try. I think I got the right size 'O' rings unless, as I said, they have the outer portion flattened. By opening the valve, they are holding with minimal air pressure. I think a proportional valve would be more beneficial then an on/off type but don't know what the standard is. Thanks, Bill S.
