Spring Air Strut assembly?????
Ok I'll admit it I'm lost.
I'm building the Nitro Planes 90" P38.
I purchaced the Spring Air 102 HD air retracts and struts.
I think I understand the basic concept of how the struts go together (no directions come with them). Trim the wire strut to length, install it and the 2 bushings in the strut tube.
What holds the whole thing together? And why out of the 6 bushings are 3 the correct diameter for the wire struts to slide through and 3 too small for them to do the same?
And lastly the bushings are too big to slide into the strut tubes, close but unless they have to be pressed in they aren't going in ?

Check out Robart Robo Struts. They are identical, and the web site may have instructions. It looks like Spring Air retract mechanisms, and Robart Struts.

RE: Spring Air Strut assembly?????
Les,
Thanks for the reply. No Joy though. Only thing I could find on Robart's site was how to install the fake strut covers.
Well I guess I may end up winging it.[&:]

Use 1 bushing per strut. The other bushing is for different size wire. The bushing fits tight, but you should use a JB weld or similar on it.
Cut the top of the strut to the length needed, and possibly the spring as well depending on how much you cut off. Install the bushing flush with the top of the strut. Drill a couple holes through the strut and bushing, and thread them to accept the set screws. These set screws will hold the assembly to the wire stub. File a flat on the wire, and install the set screw.
Here's a copy of Robarts instructions:
