Default Bisson or Slimeline

I am in the midle of my great planes extra 300 build. I am going to use a os .46 and am trying to decide between a bisson brand pitts muffler and the slimeline brand pitts muffler. Has anyone used either of these, I am curious about the noise levels and any difference in performance.

rogcjr,
I've used both brands and either will do. Of the two I prefer the Slimline on the OS 46, but that's just because that's the one I have on mine. A more important deciding factor may be the fit of the muffler in your cowl. You can get the measurements of both mufflers off of the manufacturers websites, that way you can check and see which one fits in your cowl better.

Hope this helps

Ken

It might depend on which one you get the best deal on?

Enjoy,

The Bisson is cheaper than the Slimline, or at least the one for my OS 1.60FX was.

Bisson is almost always cheaper than Slimline.

I've used both. Both work equally well. I'd follow RCKens advice and see which one will fit in the cowl.

Bisson or Slimeline? That's easy! Go with the Jett.

Seriously. Check out the [link=http://www.jettengineering.com/accy/turbo.html]Turbo-Jett[/link] In-Cowl muffler.

Another option is the pitts muffler for the magnum 46. it is shorter than the stock muffler with two outlets and is 24.99 from hobby people. Yes the magnum 46 is the same bolt pattern as the 46fx. I would bet it would save you ten bucks. Check it out

I used the Bisson with the GP 300 Extra and .46 OX. Excellant results. I believe the Bisson has longer tubes which will get the fuel away from the plane. I even extended the tubes with light aluminum which made for very little clean up at the end of the day.
