Air Tank Size For Pneumatic Retracts
I have installed Robarts Pneumatic Retract Systen using a set of 550's

I am using the Small Air Tank
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXET34&P=0
I am now using a pair of additional Air Cylinders to open/close the gear doors
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXET25
Will the airtank listed above be sufflicent to supply enough air to operate the retracts and the gear door cylinders.
Thanks, Doug.

RE: Air Tank Size For Pneumatic Retracts
Thanks for the reply; I may have to fill it each time, a little bit of a pain in the you know where; my original plans had been to use a servo to open/close the gear doors and use air to operate the retracts, I opted for the small tank because of size and fit, built the servo tray after the tank was intalled; now I find out the servo operated gear doors is not working out, too much servo buzzing when they are closed, would drain battery, tried a lot of linkage and end point adjustement, put the servo arm at zero when the door was closed, nothing worked, either the door was closed flush like I wanted, but servos buzzed or doors slightly open and no servo buzz. As long as the small tank will hold enough air to operate all 4 cylinders that will work for me; I will see if I can work a Medium tank into the plane that won't require a huge rework. I have a Pressure gauge on the plane, any ideas what sort of pressure should be in the system to be safe, or just fill it each time?

If you don't have the space for a medium tank what's the possiblity to squeeze in another small Robart tank and connect both tanks together using a "T" fitting?. That way you can put the additional just about any where you can fit it and run some additional airline.
My 2 cents worth...

Thanks for the help; I can fit a medium tank in with very little rework; I guess bigger is better, after all I am from Texas!

RE: Air Tank Size For Pneumatic Retracts
Have you tried cycling the retracts and counting the number of cycles before running out of enough air? That's really the only way to determine the amount of air needed to be on board. I believe that Robart suggests that you size the tank for 6 - 8 cycles.
