Tiger 60 and Saito 82
Wondering if the Saito 82 has enough power to fly a tiger 60 as a sport plane? I have been looking for a plane for this engine and can not seem to make up my mind?

Should be plenty of power for the Tiger. Many guys fly them with 61s without any problems, no ulimited verical but good climb before it stalls. From what I have seen at the field the Saito 82 has more power that a 61 two stroke, as long as you prop it right.

Prop?.......something like a 13x8?
I was thinking it would work but I always like to get some other opinions as I do not have a LOT of real world experience.

I have a Thunder Tiger pro .61 and a Saito .82a. The. 61 should be plenty for your Tiger. If you want to go crazy put the Saito on it. IMO the Saito would be to much power and will also have alot of torque. The Tiger was never ment to go balistic 40 size Funtana is a sweet combo with the .82

I have a Tiger 60 with a Saito 80 in it and it is a perfect combination. I've been flying it for more than 15 years. I live at 6000' and it still gives me great performance. It should be just perfect at your sea level. I use a 13 X 8 prop. I can do anything with the 80 that a 60 two stroke will do and I think I might get better vertical performance. The four stroke gives you better braking on landing---and you will love the way a Tiger lands.

Are you using the tri-cycle gear or did you convert to tail dragger. I have been thinking about this and what kind of prop clearance the Tiger has? Also, What size fuel tank does the ARF come with and is there room for larger?

Mine is a trike set up. I've had a 14 X 8 on it with no clearence problems. I remember putting a little larger tank in it, but I don't remember what size I ended up with. Actually with an .82 the tank that comes with it will probably be fine. Remember that a 4-stroke gets better "milage". I know that I can fly for more than 30 minutes if I want to.

Thanks, I was worried about swinging the larger props with the trike. I had looked into converting it to tail dragger but I guess that won't be neccesary as a 14x8 should be plenty of prop.
Ever seen the retract version of this plane? I wonder how hard it would be to do retracts on the ARF?

Had the deluxe version a few years back when it first came out. It was fun but too much trouble to keep it up. For a sport model I didn't feel the retracts were necessary. Sold it to a fellow who still has it. Not sure it would be work the time and effort on an ARF.
