Default Lusterkote paint

OK, I got stupid and bought a can of Lusterkote [:'(] so I can finish up a plane useing the last of my Monokote.

The problem: The can spits BIG TIME.

I have changed the spray tip, and bled off a bunch of the pressure. Still no go.

Anyone have a solution ?

Campy,
Roll the dice. Flip a coin. Pull out the Tarot cards. Those are how you get a good can of Lustercoat. Their quality control is pretty bad. But there is something that I have found that helps when you get a can like that (actually, this happens more times than not). Warm up a pan of water and let the can sit in the warm water. This will warm up the paint inside and let it flow out a bit easier.

Hope this helps

Ken

Yep been there, done that. It worked. I do that with any model paint that comes in a can. What else is there to say? (Oh I know, as a general rule Lusterkote sucks!)

The best thing to do with Lustercote by far is to take it out into the woods, set it on a log on stump, load up some hollow points or hydrashock .45 cal bullets into your pistol, and put as many rounds into the can as you can.

Don't forget to pack out your garbage!

What a garbage product. I've been using Krylon Fusion paint for cowls and landing gears. It is not very fuel proof, but I use 30% anyway and garbage-kote is only good to 15% anyway. Good luck and I agree with Flyboy's solution.

I know, I know. Stupid, stupid [&o] The catch is I am trying to match the Monokote covering and really don't want to go and buy a quart of latex for one cowl and one set of pants, especially since this is the last of my old Monokote (the good stuff ) and I will not be buying any more of it. The new stuff really S*CKS.

Ah yes, progress. We will make it better (chuckle, chuckle ), it will work better (har, har ) and the new, improved model will make people wonder how they ever did without it (doubled over, alternately laughing and puking )

I’ve had great experience with Lusterkote and MonoKote. It is wonderful paint and all you need to do is to heat the can a little in hot water. I’ve been using it for years.
