Default What to do w/ that 7th Rx channel?

What am I supposed to do (or what can I do) with that 7th channel on the Rx when my Tx is only a 6 channel? And the system is described as a "six" channel system?

Thanx. . .

the Rx is massed produced. It's allot cheaper to make 1 receiver 50000 times instead of 5 receiver 10000 times. That receiver come with 80% of the radios 4-8 channels. If your radio does 6 channels then there is nothing you can do with the 7th slot, well you could plug in another battery but what's the point. On my 9 channel radio I use it for free mixes slaved to a primary control function, duel elevator or flapperons and or 4 servo aileron for bipes and or part of a 4 way mix for crow and air brakes on gliders.

Redfox has hit right on the money.... On a 6 channel radio the 7th is just sitting there, and even with your mixing on, Aileron differantial or other features i dont think it will use the 7th channel on the reciever. The only thing in your case is by using a dual redundant battery setup, but theres no point to that on sport sized models besides adding weight.

You can plug a battery voltage indicator or a plane finder into the 7th channel.

Whoa! So adding a second battery is as easy as that?
Will the receiver use both batteries at the same time, or will it
only tap the second one after the first one is dead?

I've got a sport-plane, but it has alot of dead weight in the front.
I'd much rather have an extra battery than just lead weights.

Re: Battery

The two batteries become interconnected.

The RX will pull from both simultaneously, so to speak.

The usual problems associated with this type of setup applies however.

e.g. you ideally want a pair of identical fresh batteries, which you charge in exactly the same way, or at the same time for the same length.

If the batteries become too dissimiliar, one will effectively discharge into the other decreasing run times.

Yea, the best thing to do with that 7th channel is... forget it's there

Actually, according to rcbatteryclinic.com, what opjose said is not completely correct. Red states, that for nicd packs, as long as the cell-count (nominal voltage) is the same and that the packs are charged individually (not in parallel), there isn't a problem with packs "cross-charging." I must admit I haven't tried this myself, yet; however, I have found most of Red's information accurate. Go to www.rcbatteryclinic.com and scroll down the side bar until you see "parallel operation= reliability and flight time."

Yeah that's what I meant not for NiCD's....

Yeah, uhuh!

The best thing to do with extra channels is to use them to supply power to your system. Connect your batteries there.
