Default Retract speed

I've been looking for an answer to a question, and haven't been able to find it yet, maybe someone around here knows the answer...

I understand that the Springair retracts use air pressure to bring the wheels up into the fuselage and fitting a wheel collar to an air-line will slow the mechanism. I also understand that the retracts then use a spring to extend the wheels back out. Now for the silly question: Can the speed of the extension be adjusted, or does the wheels just pop out suddenly because of the spring?

Default RE: Retract speed

Basically they come down close to same speed that they retracted because the air comes out of the cylinder the reverse of the way it went in to cause retraction. The control valve has two positions either open to pressure or open to atmosphere which lets the cylinder pressure exhaust to atmospheric pressure allowing the spring to push the gear down.

Ultra Precision make an air control valve that will adjust the speed for Spring Airs, up and down speed. It's a UP-5, I beleive.
