Ribcrackers RC Club http://www.ribcrackers.org has a field on the south side of Grand River east of Milford Road, just around the corner from you. Joe's Hobby shop on Grand River in Farmington, just east of Drake is a good place to get info on local fields and clubs. Ask for Dave Schiavallo.

Go here
http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx
type in your Zip and there is a good search...
Sumpter Hill toppers is a bit south of you, Flying Pilgrims might be an option...
Here is a search for zip 48178:

I'm not familiar with the ones listed in Brighton...
Hope that helps

In agree that the current field for the Ribcrackers is probably too small for the 102" plane, though I have been there when some were flown, and have flown my 80" Extra there. Flying Pilgrims is probably your best bet. It's too bad that Ribcrackers lost the great field at 10 Mile and Novi Road due to the property being sold and a Lutheran church going up.

I had been trying to help those guys get some new land to fly up there since I grew up in the neighborhood. If Ribcrackers went to the sod farm on 8mi and Marshall they may get somewhere if they approach him correctly. Another couple of options is the old airport in Salem (aka 6 mile and Currie?) I think its owned by Holloway trucking. Mayberry state park has acres of abandonned parking lot way back in there. I used to ride my bike back in there, spooky.

I was a member when I lived in the area, and although they are a good bunch, they aren't really good businessmen familiar with the concept of planning ahead. As an example, they had over four years of awareness that they were going to lose the good field (Lang Field) and really didn't do anything spectacular to either raise funds for buying a new field or pursuing possibilities like Mayberry Park (and other public lands) beyond the first level of folks who said 'Oh, no. We can't do that because we haven't ever done it before.'
Too bad.
Too bad.

You may as well rule out buying land for a feild out there in SL! My parents still own 7 acres on Chubb Rd that they would be happy to allow models to fly on BTW, but with the last offer of 70k per acre I think it would be a little out of range for most clubs. Shoot the taxes are more than what most clubs pay to purchase!
