Default sealing hinge gaps

Last fall someone told me about HINGING with silicone caulk. It was either F3B gliders or electric pylon guys. I wouldn't try it for a hinge but it should work perfectly for gap sealer is applied properly.

You would certainly want to keep it thin. Big globs could hinder control throw and strain the servo.

I agree with Minnflyer. You would certainly need to keep it super thin. Would be interesting to see how well it would work though.

Is it true that many people use standard 2 inch packing tape? I'd like to seal the hinges on my UCD and was wondering what the best options are.

Just get some Gap Seal tape from Northeast Sailplane. It's great stuff, and really light.

Do a search for the thread by Sharkey on "Sealing Hinge Line" for a complete discussion.
