Must be a better way.
Hello all. I have been installing control horns on my .60 Giles and am having a hard time drilling the holes accurately. The control surfaces are quite thick and some times the holes for the top plate do not line up with the bottom plate holes. Does anyone have a good method for getting the holes accurate ?

Well... I usually drill the holes before I taper the surface. If the surface is tapered, then block up the trailing edge until the centerline is level and then use a drill press. I can't use a hand drill to save my life. A pin vise gives you more control, but the drill press is faster and more accurate.

wildnloose - Personally, I think a drill press and a scroll saw are almost necessities if you want to build wood models. If you buy a "real" drill press you'll find yourself using it all the time. Especially if you build kits or scratch build.
