Default Any flyers in the Portland, Oregon area?

To All,
I am in the Army and just got transferred to Lake Oswego from La Grande. I have heard about a strip at Mollalla that is supposed to be a good place to fly. Can anyone tell me anything more about it? By the way, I have went to two hobby shops here (Tammies, and Coyote) and they are really good people with excellent selections. I mainly fly 60 size, but am starting to get into larger 4 strokes. Currently working on a Great Planes Super Stearman, and finishing up a Hanger 9 Miss America. Would appreciate flying with someone who knows 4 strokes, as the club that I came from (Grande Ronde Bush Pilots) in La Grande, not a lot of people used them. Thanks in advance.
Andy

I am up in Vancouver and we fly at the Clark County Fair Grounds, which is exit 9 in Washington. I have been to the fleid in Mollola to watch the Imac contest and it is indeed a nice field. Welcome to the area and give me a shout if you have any questions. Good Luck, Dave

Thanks Dave, I will do that. I am putting my Stik back together right now (don't ask), and then I will at least have something to fly until I get the Stearman done. I drive past Battle Ground on the way to Ft. Lewis all the time. I think the good thing about being over here is it looks like there's a lot more flying time without it being sub-zero. Andy

Hey Dave, also closer to L.O. (5 miles?) is the Flyaways RC club. The field is located off of Old Scholls Ferry Rd. See www.flyaways.org for more info. Another field would be the Dusters RC club. A great well maintained grass field in the middle of farm country. Right outside of Woodburn, down I5. I would say that most people at both sites are using four strokes and some of us gasoline.

I live in Tigard, near Washington Square mall. I'm pretty sure the road right in front of that is Scholls Ferry, isn't it?

That's right, it is. Just follow toward Scholls. The field is on a farm just to the left (red farm buildings with green roofs) about 2 miles past the Kinton Grange, or about a 1/2 mile past the curves in the road.

Cool, thanks for the info. Is there a club that I have to join? I have my AMA membership current. Never mind, I just went back and re-read the post above. Thanks again for the information. Look forward to meeting you. Andy
