Metal fuse and interference?
I am building a giant SPAD but cant find any PVC for the fuse. I'm woundering if I use a aluminum fuse would it cause any interference with the radio signal? I've read that metal could make the signal go bad. Want to see if it would work before watching a new plane go into the ground from a poor signal.
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Metal fuse and interference?
There have been bunches of spad types that have used aluminum channel for fuselages and have had no probleb with the receivers. Just run the antenna out to the vertical fin or horizontal stap and let the rest trail and things should be fine. As always do a range check with any new installation even if it is like the one that has been working forever.

RE: Metal fuse and interference?
Ok thanks, wanted to check before using it.
So what is it that I've read causes interference, is it metal to metal touching?

RE: Metal fuse and interference?
I recently installed a new motor in my Raptor (ThunderTiger 39). Now i seem to have intermittent interference. Throttle and pitch change and tail rotor behaves uncontrollable. Any suggestions. I have checked to be sure the motor is secure and the that the muffler is not loose.

RE: Metal fuse and interference?
COVERTDC3, best to start a new post, yours is a new topic.
Pilots12, metal can cause interference when 2 pieces of metal vibrate together, like a metal clevis in a metal throttle arm, or a pair of metal pushrods that can vibrate and touch each other. Metal fuses can cause range problems if the antenna is routed internally. Just get the ant. out of the fuse as quickly as possible. Be sure to use a grommet or somethign so the ant's insulation isn't cut by the metal.
