21st Century Fabric
I am having a devil of a time applying the fabric , even after properly setting the temp. with a coverite temp gauge. It seems to an order of magnitude more difficult to apply than Monokote. The fabric had a tendency to drag and seems to exibit quite low shrinkage capability. I have just started applying strips to the edges of the elevators and rudder . I find that it does not conform to the corners like monokote does. Any suggestions will be most welcome. Tks

The trouble with 21st. Century Fabric is also its best attribute! It holds heat MORE, MUCH MORE than Monokote so when you pull the iron off the covering it will still want to shrink, so don't let it! Another thing - heat that stuff and PULL - it will go around most corners without a wrinkle!!!
Just heat and pull, remove the heat and keep pull'n (or least hold on to the piece), it will cool down and stay there...

Bingo. More heat. Try a heat gun, too. The stuff shrinks a lot. Two more things to be aware of...seams are VERY visible, so put them on the bottom where no-one will see, and leave large overlaps at the seams, as they tend to not stick that well. Fastest way to a real painted fabric finish, by far, but it has certain limitations. It has no torsional strength, it is pretty stretchy. And boy, it is by far the heaviest covering you can use. But I like it for certain airplanes.
