Welcome to RCU Captain.
There is a 30-page thread on this plane in the warbirds forum. On page 27 they start talking about the new version.

HEY P-51B,
YOU ASKED ABOUT A GASSER FOR THE NEW HANGER 9 P-51 1.50. I ORDERED A EVOULUTION 35GT FOR MINE. 35CC SWINGING A 18X8 PROP SHOULD DO THE JOB. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE ENGINE, BUT I'VE READ GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT. LOTS OF POWER WITH A GOOD RIALABLE IDLE AND GREAT TRANSITION TO FULL THROTTLE. I'M GOING WITH THE STOCK SERVO DRIVEN MECHANICAL RETRACTS. THERE SUPPOSED TO BE ALL NEW REDESIGNED RETRACTS. WE'LL SEE. IF THERE NOT, AND THERE NOT AS RELIALABLE AS HANGER 9 IS TOUTING, THEY WILL HERE FROM ME AND SO WILL EVERBODY ON RCU. THIS IS THE NEW FEROCIOUS FRANKIE VERSION I BOUGHT, THE OTHER PICS I'M SEEING IS THE OLD 75" VERSION OF MARIE. I DON'T THINK THE SAITO 1.50 IS GOING TO BE ENOUGH ENGINE. THE MOKI 1.80 OR THE SAITO 220 SHOULD HANDLE DUTIES. I'LL LET YA KNOW HOW THE EVOLUTION 35GT DOES. SHOULD START ON MINE THIS WEEKEND AND HOPEFULLY TEST HOP IN A MONTH OR SO. CAPTAIN RON.

OK GUYS, HERE YA GO. THE EVO 35GT WILL FIT WITHOUT ANY FIREWALL HACKING. YOU WILL NEED TO WIDEN THE ENGINE MOUNT HOLES PREDRILLED. THE LEFT SIDE SEEMS TO MOUNT UP OK. THE RIGHT SIDE WILL HAVE TO BE MOVED OUT APPOX. 1/8 TO 1/4 INCH. DO NOT GET THE WRAPAROUND PITTS SYLE MUFFLER. THERES NOT ENOUGH ROOM BETWEEN THE BIG 35'S HEAD AND THE FIREWALL EVEN WITH THE MOTOR MOVED AS FAR AHEAD AS POSSIBLE. ALSO THE LOWER COWL COMES DOWN RIGHT ON TOP OF THE CARB.. I ORDERED A BASIC INVERTED BISON THAT WILL BOLT UP AND GO STRAIGHT DOWN THROUGH THE LOWER COWL. THATS AS FOR AS I'VE GOTTEN. JUST WAITING FOR THE NEW MUFFLER BEFORE I MOUNT UP PERMENTLY. ONCE I GET THE MUFFLER AND ALL IS MOUNTED UP I WILL SENDS PICS FOR ALL TO SEE THE RESULTS. CAPTAIN RON.

Cap'n
Fit up the 26GT in mine. Ordered the wrap around Pitts. Hope I didn't make a mistake. Where are you mounting the ignition system? Not a lot of room in back of cowl, even with the smaller Evo.

REINCARNATE,
The wraparound would not fit behind the 35 unless I moved it so far forward, the lower cowling came down right on top of the carb. Didn't want to hack up the cowl so I ordered the inverted bison muffler. It'll bolt up then exit straight down through the lower cowl and I can move the 35 back again using only the supplied spacers. I'm looking at mounting the ignition under the fuel tank. I mean between the tank and the top of the fuse. I know that sounds crazy, gas-ign.? not a smart combo! We'll see... The manual on the evo 35 says the ign. system it has to be at least 12-14 inches away from the radio system. That being the case, it has to go up front. The battery packs hopefully under the servos and the rx and it's switch behind the servos towards the aft of the plane. Thats the plan so far, subect to change as I get further along. I'm thinking about using screws on the canopy instead of gluing. Once in while you just have to get in there, I hate having to cut those canopys off. Any thoughts there? CAPTAIN RON.
