Piezo Gyro for Airplanes
I have a Kyosho Pitts that flys real well except for ground handling on takeoff.Have tried everything I know and it still won't track straight.Wonder if a Gyro would help this problem.Hobbico had one thats small and light for 66.00.Anybody got any experience with these and would it solve my problem.

Joe,
I do and it goes a long way to solving your problem. I would suggest a switchable gyro to keep it from upsetting your regular flight. It will also put a higher drain on your batteries so long as it is on in the air (always acting and reacting).
Have fun!

I just looked it up. It sure should suit your purpose.
I also think you will leave it on most of the time, it won't drain your batteries. Would you turn it off if it were on a heli tail rotor.
When you hook it up make sure it is correcting the proper way.
You want to be sure, if the nose swings to the right, the gyro should correct in the opposite direction (left rudder). If it is not correcting opposite the yaw, it will try to chase it's tail.
Check it on the bench by turning the gain all the way up, it makes it easier to see. Be sure to turn the gain back down, although I never did have any problem with the tail wagging even with a high gain setting.

Gyro Work's!!!!
Well, the verdict is in.I took the Pitts out this afternoon with the gyro installed on the rudder and night and day difference on ground handling.Takeoffs are straight and scale like and landings in crosswind is a lot better.Anyone with a Kyosho Pitts will be very pleased with the improvement the gyro can make for what otherwise is a great performing small Bipe.Thank's for the imput from all who responded to my thread.Joe McCullar.
