Heli-Coil
I've cross threated the glow plug on my Saito engine. It is beyond tapping, but I would like to save the cylinder. Does anyone know where I can get a heli-coil insert? Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Heli-Coil
Sitting here at work I cannot remember the thread size you will need, however; auto supply stores sell helicoil kits for around $30. For that price you may want to check the price on a new head. Once you determine the thread size and pitch, check with your local auto supply. I just had to buy an M8 x 1.25 kit for my brake calipers and NAPA had one. You may also want to try McMaster Carr. Hope this helps.

Here`s a link to [link=http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/guideBrowse.shtml]Grainger[/link] heli coil inserts. You`ll have to come up with the tread size of the glow plug.
I have used Helicoils on sparkplugs holes , engine blocks, motorcycle cases , ect, and have had good luck with them.

RE: Heli-Coil
been there done that. 1/4 X32 is an oddball size and can't find the helicoil kits reasonable. Clarence Lee will do for you for less than 20 bucks. His ad is in the back of MA.
