Default Fuel proof transparent paint

I am tired of buying fuel proof paint at 10 dollars per 5 ounces at the local hobby shop. For a small repair or to fix some scratches one can of paint is barely enough sometimes.
I am quite sure that the same paint is also available in the normal shops at a more convenient price under diffrent brand names. Or else, there should be other type of fuel proof paints which are at a more affordable price.
The problem is that, while trying to explain what the paint is for, the shop keeper gets confused and starts guessing what to recommend. As a result I have since brought home a couple of brand that get yellowish and sticky when fuel (glow) smears on it.
Any idea?

Ops, I have just found the same question from another mate in the tips & techniques forum. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Your answers will be most welcome anyway.
