Default Magic Words

I don't know what I did (or didn't do) but my wife said today "You deserve a new airplane." (huh? did I hear you right? you feeling ok?)

I have an OS 91 FX and was eyeing the Seagull YAK 54. Give me the good the bad and the ugly before these magic words get retracted!

firstplaceaviator is right. There's an ulterior motive. Maybe a birthday or anniversary coming up? Maybe she's had her eyes on that new diamond necklace... but I can guarantee you somethings up. Run... Run fast... Don't look back!

Or...

Did you do what I do and mope around the house saying things like "it's too windy to fly... ", "I don't have anything on the table to build...". or "my plane is the smallest one at the field and the other guys make fun of me...." hehehe

Whatever happened, get the plane now before she changes her mind. You do know what they say about women changing their minds...

Man - I'd be curious if this is outta the norm. Is the honey-do list short? Any household wish list items pending? I agree - get the goods while the gettin is good but be ready for her request.

Both of our birthdays were in April...anniversary is in September...and the honey-do list is on going.

Any thoughts on the new toy?

Last year, I came home from the field bummed after crashing a .90 size heli. A few weeks later, out of the blue... my wife says "You know, since you crashed that helicopter, if you want to buy a new one. I think we can afford it." I didn't think about a the alterior motives at the time... A week later, I'm putting my new Stratus heli together. In walks my wife. And, she starts talking about how much gas her Mustang uses.
She suggests that she needs a more economical vehicle. I suggested a Toyota Camry. She asks if I would like to go see what is on the local car lots, since they were closed, we wouldn't have to talk to any salesmen. That is when I knew I was in trouble. Her new fuel efficient car was going to be expensive... Very expensive!
The next day we went to a Mercedes dealership and brought home her new C230 Kompressor.... The moral of the story is, spend a thousand on yourself, and she may guilt you into spending about $40.000.00 on something she wants too!

As for your new plane, I like the Yak. I think it would fly very nice on your .91[8D]

Do me a favor... five me a list of everything you have been doing for the last few weeks, what your wife has been eating, anything unusual you have notice around the house, etc. I would like to duplicate all of them here so I can see if it will get me a new plane too.

Seagull YAK 54 on the way...along with some other "necessary" digital radio items. I guess it's to much to ask for two more wishes.

meaden,

I've been eyeballing that plane as well. Please let me know what you think of it after a few flights.

Ed, (and everyone else...to put a cap on this thread)

I got the first few flights in on the YAK. I have it setup with 75% of the sport throws in the instructions except for the ailerons. Do not believe the CG recommendation in the instructions! If I hadn't had the 75% dual rates setup I would have lost the plane on the first flight. The CG should be somewhere on the wing tube. After moving the CG forward to the rear of the wing tube it's still tail heavy but very flyable. (there are some RCU post on the CG)

The ARF looked good out of the box. Except for the control hardware and the engine mount both I replaced. It's well built, well covered, fit together fine.

Mine came out around 8.5+ lb. With the OS91FX and a 15x6 it flies pretty fast. Faster than it needs to. With more tweaking to the balance, the engine, the prop, and the controls it should be a great plane. I'm not disappointed.

I'm taking it out again this weekend. I'll post some pics.

Now if I can just get the wife o.k. the new 85" Wild Hare Sukhoi

Nice going on that maiden. I don't understand what's up with so many of these ARFs showing improper CG's.
I'm glad you didn't fall victim!
